What brings this community together

The desire to have a positive impact on the broader community and the planet. Our aim as a research and production community is to publish environmental research conducted on the farm to help drive sustainable production with reduced food miles. Outside of that we aim to produce artisan goods from local resources and provide agro-education.

Seminars

We offer agro-education covering sustainability practices, green energy, off grid living, foraging, and local production of goods.

Workshop and factoring spaces

Yes we currently have 1 floor of the boathouse set up as a workshop as well as a carpentry workshop near the house. We are working to build a new barn, workshops and space for artisans to set up their own production.

Needs

Projects/Construction Sites

In 2024 we are launching research projects for carbon credit production as well as restoring the fields and pastures on the farm. The upper floor of the boathouse is being converted to an apartment for our full time carpenter and his wife who makes knitwear from our sheep wool.
We are also planning to complete the following in 2024 and 2025
Jetty - for keeping the boat out of rough water and making it easier to bring supplies onto the farm.
Smokehouse - Production at larger scale for fish, other seafoods, sausages, and some vegetables.
Mushroom House - Production of a wide range of mushrooms as a food supplement and mycelium to research soil improvement techniques
Bunkhouse - House our first new residents while we complete more housing.
New Barn and workshop - Overwintering livestock as well as providing space to dry lumber and keep dry hay and other goods will help launch the community.

We are looking for people to help with stonework and carpentry. The property has nearly unlimited stone estimated at 400k tonnes so we intend to use it as our primary building material.

Special Needs

We are looking for the skills listed above to help start projects and to create a sustainable cycle of production practices and goods for the long term.
