Resilient stewards of the New Earth, planning on surviving imminent economic & cultural collapse.

What brings this community together

The time has come for a just, healthy, sustainable culture to take care of our beautiful planet. The old order is falling down in a messy way, but it is falling of its own weight. Corrupt government, predatory economy, ethical confusion, rapacious development, ailing ecosystems, and dissatisfying relationship are all, by definition, unsustainable. So they are ending.

At Halcyon Community, we are creating a sanctuary for people to live in a more life-affirming way. We are joining forces to revive sustainable lifeways (such as regenerative agriculture, eco-building with local earth materials, permaculture design, tribal-inspired sociocracy, and a barter/ gift/ $$$ economy). We return to human-scale relationships, non-harmful technology, healthy habits, time for spiritual practices and fulfilling work, village economics, and cooperative projects. In other words: a safe place to raise healthy children.

We feel the urgent need to get our community well established, due to the predictions of coming disasters. It is documented that Earth’s magnetic field is dropping, and within the next few years, it is likely that a solar flare or CME (coronal mass ejection) will penetrate our weakened magnetic shield and fry the global electrical grid. In that moment, we will be thrust into a pre-industrial world – without electricity, banking, internet, gas pumps, supply chains. By then, we must be secure in our food sovereignty, water resources, human networks, and spiritual fortitude.

Beyond the above-mentioned “solar kill shot”, greater disturbances are expected. It is predicted that before 2050, our Sun will emit a micro-nova, whose impact on our planet could result in earthquakes, Noah-style floods, volcanic eruptions, mega-lightning storms, and even a shift of the poles.

Such Cataclysms happen cyclically, and despite widespread annihilation, there have always been survivors. (We are the proof). We invite those courageous souls who would like to be part of a group who will build the New Earth, in preparation for the destruction cycle. Join us!

What kind of world do we want to live in? Instead of what we have known, we can foster the best of humanity: regenerative agriculture, songs, philosophies, dances, special feast days, poetry, story-telling, healing modalities, sciences, etc.   We do this for our children, and their children.

Our economy will be based on barter and giving, with some currency when interfacing with the system, as long as it is up and running. Individually, we are already living partially according to ayni (comprehensive reciprocity). Ayni is an Andean indigenous principle of the Quechua and Aymara people. They consider the flow of life force through the web of life as a continual receiving and giving. The focus is not necessarily on direct mutualism between 2 parties. For example, the first drink of chica (a corn ferment) goes to the ground with a prayer of thanks to Pachamama (Mother Earth) before anyone else takes a swallow. Positive actions - such as giving - benefit all, because everything is connected. We intend to expand our participation in the Gift Economy, as more people join our community.

We are a bilingual community (English/Spanish), and welcome all ages.

Seminars

Yes.

NonViolent Communication, Transformational Breathwork, yoga, natural building , sociocracy .... all the aspects of community that we will be learning ourselves, we will organize to share with others.

Workshop and factoring spaces

Yes.

We are just in the planning stage right now (2024), and will have more on offer once we are on land, establishing constructions, and becomming more coherent as a community.

Needs

Projects/Construction Sites

We have several natural building projects and food production endeavors that need help.

Natural building – construction using local materials such as clay, wood, stone, and plant fibers. For new construction, we will be learning how to build without using power tools or going to the hardware store.

Expertise and non-electric hand tools are appreciated. Materials will be locally sourced.

Experts/People with the following skills

  • permaculture design
  • architecture
  • financing
  • fundraising

Aditional info about Materials

No, not until we actually own land and get underway.
